In order to expand the activities in the field of testing, ICMET has set up the first Romanian modern Laboratory for Electromegnetic Compatibility
( EMC ) wich is intended to ensure EMC for electric power equipment and power electronics.

The Lab is the result of a close cooperation between ICMET Craiova and Phsikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt-PTB Braunschweig, Germany.

At present the immunity tests and conducted disturbance measurement performed by this laboratory are accredited by RENAR.

In 2000 it was put into operation the semi-anechoic chamber, the first of this kind in Romania.

Technical Characteristics

Immunity according to EN 61000-4-3
In the measuring area
(L x H=1,5 x 1,5 m) uniform field within imposed tolerance limits
(0dB, +6dB) for at least 75% of the area (12 of 16 measuring points).
Measuring distance: 3 m
Provisions of EN 61000-4-3 are guaranteed within the frequency range: 80MHz-18GHz
Radiated disturbances according to
EN 55022: Preconformity

In the "quiet" area (diameter 1m)

  • 30-90MHz NSA: 9,5dB
  • 90-200MHz NSA: 6,5dB
  • 200-1GHz NSA: 4dB
  • 1-18GHz NSA: 4dB

Technical Solution

Screened enclosure: construction made of OL 1.5 mm thick sheet welded in neutral atmosphere

Lined with pyramid absorbers made of polyurethane foam impregnated with carbon particles fixed acrylic adhesive resistant at temperatures up to 600 C (30 sec) and stable in electric fields up to 350 V/m

Geometrical dimensions: 8 m x 4 m x 4 m

Useful chamber dimensions: 6,885 m x 2,680 m x 3,340 m
